A Suggestion for the Hair Fair

I have a suggestion for future Hair Fairs and although it probably won't go over very well, it is just a thought and my two cents.

Instead of having it in one location with the WORST lag I have ever experienced in my SL life, why not just advertise which vendors are participating and then just have them set it up in their own shop. They can advertise in their own store which ones are for the Hair Fair with their 50% signs like the ones they have up in the Hair Fair.

When you advertise the vendors on the blogs, advertise the hairstyles at the same time.

I'm sure that would not be as exciting but I am not even sure if I am going to try and go back to purchase any of the hair that I bought demos for because of the lag. I just don't have the RL time anymore to spend a lot of time trying to move just a few steps in SL to buy hair.

Again, just my two cents!

Oh, I totally agree with you. It was a relief that so many designers had the Relay For Life vendors in their stores this year so we didn't all have to flood up sims constantly. SL can't handle these kinds of events right now. Not with as many people go to these. At the peak there was at least 250 avatars that I saw on the map in the 4 sims and then people on neighboring sims that were camming in. That's just too much for one small area. Even if we'd all been bald, naked, and scriptless - it was just too much.

I went the first day of Hair Fair and the lag was so bad that I could not WALK, but then I didn't have to. Sitting on one of the boxes provided, and then later rezzing my own, then going into Edit more and "editing" the box around the sim helped tremendously. I never even noticed the lag using that method. And just a tip to make it even easier, if you angle your camera up to a bird's eye view, and then pan out with your box selected in edit more, you will see two red and green triangle near your selected box. You can click those arrows to quickly move yourself around, without having to use the individual arrows that stick out of the selected box.

Just in case I will try and post an example of what I mean later. ^_^
